The Feast of Passover
The last plague that God was about to send was a plague of death— for all the firstborn in the land. At midnight on Nisan 15 (that’s how you name dates in the Bible; it’s in our springtime) the Lord was going to strike EVERY household. Every family. Every home. UNLESS…
God provided ONE way to be saved from the judgment. He said that if His children would take a perfect male lamb, kill it without breaking any of its bones, and put the blood of the lamb over the doorframes of their homes, He would see the blood and pass over the house. The blood of the lamb of God would save the people.
Jewish people who heard Jesus being called the Lamb of God, would think immediately of the Passover lamb, whose blood took away the judgment that was on all the land.
